Student Policies and FAQ’s:

We host 2 recitals per year, one during the spring/early summer, and one during fall/winter. The recitals are not mandatory, but we encourage all of our students to participate! We help students choose and prepare a piece to perform, and everyone is invited! We provide snacks for performers, friends and family and ask a $30 fee for each performer to help cover the costs. A rehearsal is held at the location of the recital a few days before the performance to allow students to practice on the performance piano and with the sound system. More details of timing and location are sent out in a Recital letter before the performances.

Piano Recitals:

Payment for lessons is due on a monthly basis during the first week of the month, unless other arrangements are made with your teacher. Students will pay for their time-slot of their weekly lessons (example: if there are 4 Wednesdays in a month, then 4 lessons are paid during the first week of the month). In months where there are 5 lessons, then tuition will be adjusted to the additional lesson (example: if there are 5 Wednesdays in a month, then 5 lessons are paid during the first week). If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with your teacher. We accept the following forms of payment for lessons: Cash, Check, Venmo, Paypal (Miss Brooke only), or Zelle.

Tuition:

If your teacher must miss a lesson for any reason, you can choose to make-up the lesson at another time or roll over the payment to the next month. If you or your child misses a lesson, you are still required to pay the full monthly tuition for your time slot. If you have an event or vacation, you must inform your teacher of your absence 24 hours in advance, and your makeup lesson must be completed within 2 weeks of the missed lesson. If advanced notice is not received, the lesson will be non-refundable. If you are gone for an extended period of time (3 weeks or more), half of the tuition missed must be paid and those lessons paid for can be made up at a later date.

Absence Policy:

We strongly request that your child not attend lessons in person if they are currently ill or contagious, for the safety and health of your teacher and other students. An alternate online Zoom lesson will be offered if they are sick, and this will take place during their normal lesson time-slot. If the student is too sick for a zoom lesson, the lesson may be a makeup lesson to be completed in the following 2 weeks.

Illness/Sick Policy:

If your lesson lands on one of the following holidays, you have the option of skipping the lesson or making arrangements with your teacher to complete the lesson on another day.

-4th of July

-Thanksgiving Day

-Christmas Day

-New Years Day

Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes, either a keyboard or a piano is required so you can practice on your own time! If you have a keyboard, it would be most beneficial if it is a “weighted” keyboard, meaning that the volume changes depending on how hard or soft you press the keys.

  • If the student is sick, we offer a zoom lesson. If the student is too sick for a zoom lesson, the lesson may be completed as a makeup lesson to be completed in the following 2 weeks. If you have an event, your teacher must be notified 24 hours in advance, and a lesson can be made up at a later time.

  • We highly recommend that all students participate in the recitals, although it is not required. Recitals are a fun, exciting way to benchmark your progress and share your hard work with friends and family!

  • We recommend 3-4 days per week of practice, reviewing and playing through each of your assigned pieces at least 3 times without stopping. Practice will also be adjusted based on the student’s own schedule and personal goals.

  • The youngest age we start students is 4 years old, depending on the child’s ability to focus. There is no upper limit for students, as it is never too late to fall in love with music and learn a new skill!
